How we do it

The Neon editorial team will review all online submissions and also seek out additional standout candidates for the Shine 50 list. Candidates will be assessed on a diverse array of criteria, including leadership, advocacy, impact, innovation, creativity, scale and sustainability.The selection process will be rigorous and we will contact shortlisted candidates to better understand their work and impact. Neon's editors will make the final selections.

Who is eligible to apply for Shine50 by Neon?▼

Young Sri Lankan women/who identify as women, from any field who have made significant contributions and demonstrated exceptional leadership and impact are eligible to apply.

Is there an age limit for applicants?▼

Applicants must be between 18 to 35 years. Born on or after January 1st, 1990

Can I nominate someone else for Shine50 by Neon?▼

Yes, nominations are welcome. You can nominate someone by filling out the nomination section of the application form. The information required for nominating someone is similar to that of a self-nomination.

What is the application deadline?▼

The application deadline is July 28, 2024. Ensure your application is submitted on or before this date.

Are there any fees associated with applying?▼

No, there are no fees for applying to Shine 50 by Neon.

Can I pay to be on the list?▼

No. This is entirely a Neon editorial project.

When will the results be announced?▼

July, and the selected candidates will be notified via email.

What does the selected Shine50 by Neon receive?▼

Selected candidates will receive recognition at an award ceremony, media coverage, networking opportunities, and a platform to further their impact and inspire another generation of young women.

What is expected of the nominees?▼

All nominees are expected to participate at the awards ceremony held in Colombo and commit to participating in at least two of the network events planned to be held in Galle, Kandy and Jaffna. Costs associated with the participation will be borne by Neon.

Is there a long-term commitment besides this of nominees?▼

Nominees are encouraged to leverage and network with their fellow inductees to scale the impact of their collective causes. The network can become a rich source of inspiration and collaboration
